360º Vector Control
We carry out our mission through an emphasis on impactful product development and partnerships. Training and education initiatives complement our portfolio offer to ensure the best outcome for quality of life and the environment.
History & Expertise
We have a heritage in vector control spanning more than 60 years and a team of over 50 people around the globe which support our activities in the fight against vector-borne diseases. We continue to build on this long-term commitment and expertise in order to continue to provide solutions that protect people where they live, work and play.
From on-the-ground training programs to engagement with international funding and advocacy organisations, we are committed to eliminating vector-borne diseases.
Over the past 17 years, we have been able to maintain the highest innovation rate of any of the major suppliers of vector control solutions. This history of innovation, engagement and commitment to product stewardship underlines our mission to provide cost-effective, sustainable solutions that protect the environment in which we live, work and play.
Our accumulated expertise and experience from over 60 years involvement in the field of vector control gives us a continuity that can be relied on, plus a unique, in-depth understanding of the issues involved.
In addition to contributing to the strategies and processes across the global vector control community, we have our feet on the ground with regional experts. We provide additional support by offering services to back up our product and operational expertise. Sustainable, customized strategies and solutions for resistance management are an essential part of our work.
This history of innovation, education, and stewardship underlines our commitment to providing solutions that benefit people, improve their health and quality of life, all while being mindful of the environment.
Partnership
Engaging in partnerships to combat vector-borne diseases is a key aspect of our 360° Vector Control approach. These can extend from multi-stakeholder initiatives with governments and NGOs to collaborative research projects with universities and business initiatives. We find that sharing knowledge and know-how gives us inspiration and provides us with an opportunity to share new ideas on prevention and control across geographically relevant areas.
Envu is involved in various partnerships with other organisations such as the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC), GBCHealth*, AMP* and is a member of the private sector delegation for Roll Back Malaria Partnership. Portfolio & Innovation
Envu offers a unique and comprehensive portfolio of products within most of the currently recognised vector control intervention methods. We are conscious of the importance of Integrated Vector Management and therefore are committed to providing a range of alternative, novel solutions which serve the needs of the vector control community.
Our product development takes a holistic approach – taking into consideration the important elements of performance; cost-effectiveness; packaging waste-disposal and transportation. Our aim is to ensure maximum cost-effectiveness and impact for disease-control programs.
Our vector-control solutions include:
Ficam® and K-Othrine® for indoor residual spraying; Aqua Reslin® and Aqua K-Othrine® for space-spraying, and the larvicides Barcelo® and Starycide®.
We also have active development projects across the fields of IRS, space-spraying and larvicides. In October 2015, we submitted a new product dossier to the WHO Pesticides Evaluation Schemefor evaluation. This product, Fludora Fusion, is the first two-way mixture for IRS and contains two unrelated insecticide modes of action, including a new one for malaria vector control.
Advocacy
Envu signed the London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases 2012 to help eliminate certain neglected tropical diseases and increase international awareness through global advocacy. We support several advocacy groups – of both institutions and NGOs – which are committed to putting this story onto the agendas of politicians, opinion-makers and the media.
By raising awareness on issues that concern vector control, we hope to start a conversation with a broader audience, thus creating a foundation for future partnerships. We cultivate global expert networks through our partnerships with external institutes.
Training & Education
In order for Integrated Vector Management to operate effectively, the products which are used within in must be used properly in order to be most effective. So we deploy experts to train local teams from national vector control programs on the correct use of our products. Envu facilitates networking (e.g. through the organisation of international workshops) in order to increase the impact of local entomology training.
Since 1985, we have also published the Envu Public Health Journal which covers a range of vector control issues with informative articles that focus on important issues written by experts in the field.
